Development Section
Barrhead Burgh Band are keen to encourage
music participation from throughout the community. Our Development
Section allows musicians of mixed ages and abilities to enjoy being a
part of a brass band. No experience is required. Tution and instruments
can be provided.
Some FAQ's
What
age do I have to be to join?
Any age, but ideally in
Primary 6 or older
What
instrument can I play?
In a Brass Band we have
cornets, flugel and tenor horns, baritones,
euphoniums, tenor and bass trombones, Eb and Bb Basses and percussion
I learn trumpet at school. Can I join?
A trumpet is quite similar to a cornet, so if you are learning trumpet,
and fancy joining, get in touch!
How often does the Development Band meet?
We'll meet up once a week for about an hour. From 7pm til 8pm
I've never
played before, can I join?
Of course. We are
happy to teach you the basics, and as you get more confidence you can
move through the band
I already get lessons
at school, can I still come along?
Absolutely! We will encourage
your playing, and work with your school to ensure that your playing
continues to develop
I left school many years ago - can i join?
Yes, we welcome people of all ages, but you would be subject to a
Disclosure Scotland check to comply with Protection of Children
(Scotland) legislation
I'm quite an experienced player. Do you
have any vacancies?
If you are experienced enough to join the competing band then get in
touch, and we'll be happy to tell you more about the Band
