Some FAQ's

What age do I have to be to join?
Any age, but ideally in Primary 6 or older

What instrument can I play?
In a Brass Band we have cornets, flugel and tenor horns, baritones, euphoniums, tenor and bass trombones, Eb and Bb Basses and percussion

I learn trumpet at school. Can I join?
A trumpet is quite similar to a cornet, so if you are learning trumpet, and fancy joining, get in touch!

How often does the Development Band meet?
We'll meet up once a week for about an hour. From 7pm til 8pm

I've never played before, can I join?
Of course. We are happy to teach you the basics, and as you get more confidence you can move through the band

I already get lessons at school, can I still come along?
Absolutely! We will encourage your playing, and work with your school to ensure that your playing continues to develop

I left school many years ago - can i join?
Yes, we welcome people of all ages, but you would be subject to a Disclosure Scotland check to comply with Protection of Children (Scotland) legislation

I'm quite an experienced player. Do you have any vacancies?
If you are experienced enough to join the competing band then get in touch, and we'll be happy to tell you more about the Band
